QMF for TSO/CICS V10 generates new diagnostic trace records about spill file processing

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why does QMF for TSO/CICS issue trace messages about DSQCSIDT?

Cause

Customers report concern regarding trace record messages, such as:
DSQCSIDT:open spill
DSQCSIDT:CSIDT AFTER CLOSE

Answer

The messages about the QMF spill file in the trace file are normal.

QMF V10 users can apply the fix for APAR PM94433 to eliminate most if not all those informational messages.

Some additional information about these messages:

  • The messages are new in QMF Version 10. These messages were not issued in prior QMF releases.
  • The messages are intended to help IBM diagnose problems where spill file processing might be part of the problem.
  • The messages do not indicate errors. To clarify this point, QMF APAR PM77764 changed the text of the trace record to indicate "NO ERROR:"

DSQCSIDT:CLOSE SPILLFILE: NO ERROR CSIDT INFO
