Problem(Abstract)

Tivoli Storage Server process, dsmserv may not start automatically after upgrading the server.

Cause

The rc.dsmserv definition in "/etc/inittab" file is automatically removed while running the server's upgrade process.

tsm1:2:once:/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/rc.dsmserv -u tsminst1-i /home/tsminst1/tsminst1 -q >/dev/console 2>&1

Resolving the problem

Please save the original /etc/inittab file with another filename before upgrading tivoli storage server.

After upgrading tivoli storage server successfully, please overwrite the current inittab file with the saved inittab file.
