Force the TSAAM fixpack installer to skip a failing step

Technote (FAQ)

Question

The TSAAM fixpack installer hit a problem at step 4, but it doesn't appear to be a real issue. Can the installer be instructed to continue on from step 5 ?

Answer

This technote is not concerned with the actual error. Instead the focus is on how to make the installer skip the failing step. The TSAAM installer is designed to restart from the failing step the next time it is executed. Lets say that step continued to fail but you have already determined that the error can be ignored for some reason. You can restart the installer and have it ignore the current failing step. The syntax is the following :

setup.bin -Dskipnextstep=true

You will see the following screen indicating that the installation is a "resuming installation" :

Once you've entered the required information again, it will resume at the next step (5 in this example), skipping the failing step (4 in this example).
