Name populating in Lotus Notes Type-ahead lookup that does not seem to exist.

Technote (troubleshooting)

This document applies only to the following language version(s):

English

Problem

Type-ahead resolves to an address that does not seem to exist in either the Recent contacts or the Contacts views in the Lotus Notes 8.5.3 personal address book. This is causing the user to send incorrectly addressed mail to users. Because the contact does not seem to be in the personal address book, there is no way to remove the bad contact from the address book.

Cause

Incorrect entry does exist in the local personal address book, hence, it needs to be removed.

Environment

Windows

Resolving the problem

To find the bad contact you need to go to View > "Search this view" in Notes, and search for the email address that is being incorrectly populated, in either the user's Contacts or Recent contacts views.
Once you find the bad contact/entry, you can delete it.
