Create report button does not works

Technote (troubleshooting)


Issue noted when trying to create a report from the maximo UI with the steps below:

1) Go To > Service Automation > Service Deployment Instance > Run Report > Create Report
2) the button create report does not works


error seen on SystemOut.log:

Uncaught exception thrown in one of the service methods of t
he servlet: /webclient/components/reportlistportlet.jsp. Exception
thrown : java.lang.NullPointerException
at psdi.webclient.controls.ReportListPortlet.getSelectedReports


LIBRARY.xml file is an outdate version

Resolving the problem

The easiest way to correct the Library.xml file is to use a comparison tool, such as

Beyond Compare. The steps are:
1. Export library.xml and create a backup of the file.
2. Open it in a text editor. Search for the following text:
<dialog beanclass=""
id="createreport" label="Query Based Report" mboname="USERREPORT">
3. Delete the entire dialog, starting with the line above and including
the end dialog tag:
4. Replace the deleted text with the dialog from the attached file.
