Troubleshooting
Problem
After installing Maximo 7.1 or 7.5 successfully with no fatal errors and listing the content of the Administrative Workstation Deployment Engine (DE) database it will not show any entry for Maximo product
Symptom
You may have a working environment and be able to login to Maximo but you will not be able to install other packages: Interim Fixes (IFix), Fix Pack (FP), Maximo Add-ons, etc
When trying to install IFix, FP, etc your installer will fail issuing the following similar message:
"CTGIN2499E: Maximo base services is not found on the system. The installation program will now exit."
Cause
We may have the following possible causes on such scenarios as the root cause for the issue:
C1) You are installing Maximo 7 on anothe drive except C. (e.g. Windows is installed on C: drive and you want to install Maximo on F: drive) and executing the installation launcher by using Explorer and double clicking on the file;
C2) During the installation process you have checked the option “Copy files now. Perform installation configuration later” and installation has finished with no issues but you have not executed TASKRUNNER command as a following required step on such scenario.
Environment
Windows as Administrative Workstation
Maximo 7.1 or 7.5 Base Services installation
Diagnosing The Problem
When you query the content of the DE by using ListIU :
- For Maximo 7.1, from a command prompt change to the c:\program files\ibm\common\acsi\bin folder and then run ListIu.cmd
- For Maximo 7.5, from a command prompt change to the c:\ibm\smp\ctg_de\acsi\bin folder and then run ListIU.cmd
… you will see only DE product entries as a outcome. The following is an example for this situation:

The Maximo components are missing from the DE.
Resolving The Problem
The following actions may help to resolve the issue (or a combination of both)
R1) Run the installer from a command prompt window instead of double clicking the code using Explorer. If you are using Windows 2008 make sure you meet the required adjusts on system to make it to work fine as per the technote 1502398 (“Installation of Maximo v7 on Windows 2008”);
R2) Complete the installation by running TASKRUNNER from a command prompt window as it follows (if Windows 2008, consider again the same technote above - 1502398):
<Maximo root>ibm\smp\scripts\taskrunner.bat CONTINUE STOPONERROR
The TASKRUNNER should be finished with ERRORLEVEL 0 (successful run).
When reading the log file <Maximo root>\IBM\SMP\logs\CTGInstallTrace00.log you will see the following similar entries indicating DE has been updated:
CTGIN0150I: Deployment Engine is updating the registry of installed software components.
You may see just after CTGIN0150I a following CTGIN information message showing the software DE has just included on its database.
When TASKRUNNER finishes you should have the Maximo registry in the DE as it shows below:
