Problem(Abstract)
It had been observed that the Cognos java process was taking up a high percentage of CPU on a 64-bit Solaris 10 server. A typical CPU usage pattern went as follows...
* startup 7:12. CPU OK
* first login 7:21 CPU 17% to render page briefly.
* 7:25 high java process usage until 7:32 when it starts to drop.
* 7:45 high java CPU usage until 7:52 when it starts to drop.
Environment
64-bit Solaris 10 with JRE 1.5.0_20
Resolving the problem
Upgrade the JRE to version 1.6
