Attempts to start IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT) results in the error "Error at writing the file """.


The full error message is as follows.

JVM cannot be enabled
Error at enabling the JVM [Javajre 7]
Error at writing the file "": C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\lib\ (Access denied)


Rational Functional Tester needs to write the following file to enable the Java runtime environment (JRE).

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\lib\

To do so, you need administrative rights.

Resolving the problem

Login once as Administrator. Then Rational Functional Tester enables the JRE automatically.
