Failure During Install of Advanced Workflow Components (RBA 7.3.0.1)

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

During upgrade from TSAM 7.2.1.4 to TSAM 7.2.2.1, step 9.1 "Install Advanced Workflow Components" (RBA 7.3.0.1) fails on create table WFSUBPROCESSEXT

Cause

In the log file (SMP/maximo/tools/maximo/log/Updatedb2xxxxx.log), you can see that the code is attempting to insert table (WFSUBPROCESSEXT) into the IBM4KSPACE instead of the IBM16KSPACE. This causes an an SQL exception since the length of the table row exceeds the limit for the space:

com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.SqlException: The row length of the table exceeded a limit of "4005" bytes. (Table space "IBM4KSPACE".). SQLCODE=-670, SQLSTATE=54010, DRIVER=3.59.81

The problem is that the SetDefaultStoragePartition class is at fault; it incorrectly selects the first row in the database which in this case was IBM4KSPACE, rather than IBM16KSPACE.

Diagnosing the problem

Look in the log file (SMP/solutions/logs/RBA/Maximo_Update_DB_RBA.out) for the following error: BMXAA6818I - ConfigDB started for schema DBRTSAM, connected to database

And in the log file (SMP/maximo/tools/maximo/log/Updatedbxxxxxx.log),for the following error:
com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.SqlException: The row length of the table exceeded a limit of "4005" bytes. (Table space "IBM4KSPACE".). SQLCODE=-670, SQLSTATE=54010, DRIVER=3.59.81

Resolving the problem

Work-around...in the failing environment:

1. Backup the database.
2. Use the Domains application to temporarily remove the other rows except "IBM16KSPACE" (note the names of the other rows that are removed).
3. Once "IBM16KSPACE" is the only row remaining, try to run the TSAM upgrade.
4. If successful, use the Domains application to recreate the rows from steps 2.
