IBM Content Manager eClient notelog checkin issue

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

In some cases documents are not checked in by the IBM Content Manager eClient, and they
remain in a checked out state in the icmstcheckedout table.

This issue occurs with documents containing more than one page.

Cause

The document is not closed, which causes it to remain in checkout mode.

Diagnosing the problem

1. Open a tiff document using the eClient applet.
2. Click the notelog button in the applet to open notelog and add some text within the notelog. Do NOT click 'Save' for the notelog.
3. Close the applet by clicking 'X'.
4. Click 'Save' to save notelog.

Result: The doc has "checkedout" status.

Resolving the problem

Save notelog before closing the applet, as follows;

1. Open a tiff document using the eClient applet.
2. Click the notelog button in the applet to open notelog and add some text within the notelog. Do NOT click 'Save' for the notelog.
3. Click 'Save' to save notelog.
4. Close the applet by clicking 'X'.

By performing the steps in this manner, after saving the notelog, the document will be checked in.

The row in the icmstcheckedout table can also be manually deleted.

This issue has been fixed in APAR IO16660 which is included in IBM Content Manager 8.4.3 Fix Pack 3
