DataPower XDoS detection is not enforced when data is processed in pass-thru mode

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why is IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliance 'Maximum Message Size' of Single Message
XML Denial of Service (XDoS) Protection not enforced when using pass-thru mode?

Cause

The limit of XDoS detection does not apply when using pass-thru mode since the data is being streamed through unaltered and is not inspected.

Answer

The XDoS detection will only be triggered when data is being parsed or inspected in a processing rule, such as using XML request type or by using a transform in processing policy.
