RSEF1002 error trying to open a .rpg source using Rational Developer for Power Systems

Troubleshooting


Problem

A user of IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software RPG and COBOL Development Tools for i attempts to open a RGP source member, but receives a error message "Operation failed. File system input or output error".

Symptom

The following message is displayed in the .log file:

 com.ibm.as400.access.ServerStartupException: Unable to establish a connection.
at com.ibm.as400.access.ClassDecoupler.connectDDMPhase2(Unknown Source)
at com.ibm.as400.access.AS400ImplRemote.getConnection(Unknown Source)

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the problem perform either of the two steps below:

1. Create a generic userID that has not been customized using the default Job description and Library.

Or

2. Issue wrkusrprf for the problematic User profile, 5=Display, then page down until you see Job description and Library. View the items listed for them and then make sure that library and the description exist. If not, change these items to a default setting.
