Question
I work with IBM SPSS Statistics 21 Server installed on a Microsoft Windows 2008 server 64 bit. You would like to open files on shared and mapped network folders while working in distributed mode. From the client you switch to the statistics server and then use Open - Remote file dialog to open the file on the mapped network share.
I can find the shared folder e.g. \\server\folder\, select a SAV file in the folder and open it. I can also use GET FILE syntax on the server to open a remote file directly e.g.
GET FILE = '\\server\folder\filename.sav'
However, when I type the full UNC path to the file directly on the open - Remote File dialog it does not work. It only works with GET GILE and if I select the shared folder first.
Answer
An Enhancement Request was submitted to IBM SPSS Development to expand the Open Remote file dialog features in a future release (Reference ID: ECM00187180)
Historical Number
SPSS server UNC path mapped shared network open remote file IF 1
