Configuring the Tivoli Common Agent LWIApplication service to a fixed port.

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

By default the agent LWIApplication service does not use a fixed port and instead requests an available port from the system. On rare occasions this may cause port conflict with another application that is started after the agent.

Resolving the problem

1. In the agent_dir/conf/overrides directory create a file named lwiadmin.properties.

(The default path is normally C:\Program Files\Tivoli\ep\conf\overrides on Windows, or /opt/tivoli/ep/conf/overrides on Linux.)

2. In this file add the following lines:

##################################################################
#
# com.ibm.lwi.admin.http.port
#
# Specifies the administration port for the LWI instance.
#
# Can be set to an explicit port value, or 0 to use any available port.
#
#
##################################################################
com.ibm.lwi.admin.http.port=

3. Edit the line com.ibm.lwi.admin.http.port= and add the fixed port you would prefer to use and save the changes.
4. Restart the agent.
