Problem(Abstract)

Encounter error "Unable to connect to Teradata Data Source db_name. -1 Message Not Found" when



1. Using TD plugin or TDCC stage in a DataStage job. Or

2.Using Import table definition from TeraData plugin or connector.

Symptom

Encounter error "Unable to connect to Teradata Data Source db_name. -1 Message Not Found" when

1. Using TD plugin or TDCC stage in a DataStage job. Or
2. Using Import table definition from TeraData plugin or connector..


Cause

The error is given is due to errmsg.cat file missing either from TD lib directory or the environment variable COPPER is missing or not defined properly.

Resolving the problem

In case the issue occurred:

1. check if errmsg.cat exists in the TD lib path defined for TD. For example, if you have LIBPATH defined as below in dsenv, check if errmsg.cat exists in "/opt/teradata/client/13.10/lib64"

LIBPATH=$LIBPATH:/opt/teradata/client/13.10/lib64

2. check if COPPER is defined or is defined properly in dsenv.
