After changing the location in menu administration for a template/report. When launching the report we receive an error message.
Clarity.10002 Failed to initialize template file.
Clarity.10008 Template failed to load from [D:\\Clarity
System.Xml.XmlException Invalid character in the given encoding. Line
1, position 1.
The reason for this is because when changing the template/report, the document type was changed.
Diagnosing the problem
Keep in mind that there are 2 types of Clarity templates. 6.2 templates which are XML templates, and Clarity 7 templates which are .template templates.
When running a 6.2 template on a Clarity 7 environment, we need to make sure the document type is Clarity 6.2 document, rather then the default document type (Clarity Document).
Resolving the problem
Because a 6.2 template was set as a Clarity Document under document type, instead of Clarity 6.2 document, this caused the template launch to crash. By changing the drop down selection back to document type, this should resolve the issue.
