developerWorks upgrade of IBM Connections impact to RTC users

Update: The upgrade dates have changed. developerWorks forums will be placed in Read-Only mode on April 6, 2013 and the upgrade is scheduled for April 12-14 (during which time the Entire dW site will be unavailable). Refer to the Improvements in developerWorks Community wiki for further details.

Rational Team Concert provides an integration to IBM Connections, which connects change and configuration management resources and artifacts with IBM Connections community resources and artifacts. This integration with IBM Connections uses the developerWorks Connections by default to deliver these capabilities.

IBM Connections on developerWorks is being upgraded from version 2.5 to 4.0 and will be offline during the upgrade. The upgrade is currently scheduled to take place during the first Quarter of 2013.

IMPACT

During the upgrade:

If you are using the Rational Team Concert default IBM Connections integration which points to developerWorks Connections, the integration will be unavailable during the upgrade period and will experience reduced integration capabilities or loss of integration as a whole.


After the upgrade is completed:

The version of IBM Connections (version 4.0) that will be available following the upgrade is a version that has not been fully tested to work with IBM Rational Team Concert.

Although some areas of the integration may work as expected, you may find that the integration may not function smoothly and you may see issues with newer IBM Connections features.
