IBM® DOORS® login_history.txt file location

Question & Answer

Question

Where is the IBM® DOORS® login_history.txt file located?

Cause

The login_history.txt file can be used to monitor user logins within IBM® DOORS®. Its location is not publicly documented.
Note please:  IBM® DOORS® server (doorsd.exe) must have WRITE access to this file at all times, while active!
If this file is not accessible while DOORS® server is running, all users (including Administrator) will be blocked from logging in!

Answer

The login_history.txt file keeps a record of every failed login and every successful login to the IBM DOORS database.
  • On Windows®, this file is stored in <DOORS_database_folder>\v6data\logs by default.

Note: If you do not know where the DOORS database is located, you can run regedit on Windows to look at the DOORS registry keys. The ServerData registry entry contains the location of the DOORS database. Review the technote Location of DOORS registry keys on Microsoft Windows 64-bit Operating System for more details.
  • On Linux®, the login_history.txt file is stored in $SERVERDATA/v6data/logs by default.

Note: If you do not know where the DOORS database is located on Linux®, look at the environment of the DOORS installation. The database location will be specified in the SERVERDATA environment variable.

The login_history.txt file may record information in two formats:

  • local time

  • universal coordinated time (UTC)

For example:

[{"Line of Business":{"code":"LOB59","label":"Sustainability Software"},"Business Unit":{"code":"BU059","label":"IBM Software w\/o TPS"},"Product":{"code":"SSKR2T","label":"IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS"},"ARM Category":[{"code":"a8m50000000L3D6AAK","label":"DOORS"}],"ARM Case Number":"","Platform":[{"code":"PF025","label":"Platform Independent"}],"Version":"All Version(s)"}]
