Unable to load service configuration portlet

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Why won't my portlets load?

Symptom

1. You have logged onto the TIP console and see the Error "Error 500: Could not initialize soap stub for user: tipadmin request requires HTTP authentication." You also notice that all of your Logo's are missing.

2. Check the TIP trace.log for the errors below:

trace.log:Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not initialize soap stub for user: tipadmin: Internal Server Error (java.lang.NullPointerException)
trace.log: com.micromuse.common.security.SecurityModelException: Error occurred while initializing preferences for user tipadmin: null

3. Check the listIU and verify the version of TIP and TBSM

    IU        UUID: 5FFE79F918DF3BA0D67511FD3F7C358E Name: SIU-TIPCore        Version: 1.1.1.17
IU RootIU UUID: 8DA4201AE37B4C459EA475F10947C716 Name: TBSMDASH_Install Version: 4.2.1.1

Based on the information above TBSM is not running FipPack 3. TIP 1.1.1.17 is not compatible with previous patch levels of TBSM.

Cause

Your TBSM is running on a TIP server that has an incompatible version of TBSM.

Resolving the problem

In order to resolve this issue you must install TBSM 4.2.1. FixPack 3.
