Steps to unregister and register TSMVE plugin to vCenter Server.

Question

How can I re-register new IP address of TDP VE plugin to vCenter Server?

Answer

Unable to connect to TDP for VMware plugin from vCenter Server after IP address of TSMVE plugin is changed.

The following error is shown:

The following error occurred while downloading the script plugin from
http://(old IP address of TDPVE plugin server):9080/TsmVMwareUI/plugin/config.xml : Unable to connect to the remote server <<<

To solve the error, new IP address is needed to be re-registered by the following steps.


1. From the machine where the TSM for VE plugin is installed, click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.

2. Right click on "IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 - TSMVEplugin" and click Stop.

3. Close the vCenter client

4. From the machine where the TSM for VE plugin is installed, in the command line go to the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Tivoli\TDPVMware\VmwarePlugin

5. Run the unregister_vcenter.cmd using the following syntax:
unregister_vcenter.cmd <vcenter hostname> <vcenter user ID> <vcenter user pw> <old IP address>

6. Run the register_vcenter.cmd:
register_vcenter.cmd <vcenter hostname> <vcenter user ID> <vcenter user pw> 9080

7. Restart the eWas service.

8. Open the vCenter client, check to see if the plugin can be opened.
