Disaster Recover standby server implementation

Troubleshooting

Problem

A Tivoli Storage Manager server is configured on one machine. In preparation for disaster recovery, it may be desirable to implement a second server at remote site as a standby server.

Resolving The Problem

Starting with Tivoli Storage Manager V6, it is possible to use electronic vaulting and establish a standby remote server using using the DB2 HADR function. Complete details on this implementation are available in Tivoli Storage Manager wiki article titled "Electronic vaulting using deduplicated remote copy storage pools".

Starting with Tivoli Storage Manager V6.3, you can also use the node replication function to replicate node data to a remote server. More information is available in the "Replicating client node data" section of the Information Center.
