SQL sent to InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner is not received

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Even though the Data Studio client's embedded HTTP server is running, SQL.statements sent to InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner are not being received.

Diagnosing the problem

Several applications, such as InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager and DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS, can send SQL statements directly to the Data Studio client, which is the client application for InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner, For the Data Studio client to receive SQL statements from those applications, its embedded HTTP server must be running. Even if the embedded HTTP server is running, however, SQL statements will not be received when both of these conditions are true:

  • If the system that is sending the SQL statements is behind a firewall.
  • The firewall is blocking ports 56788 and 56789.

These two ports must be open to allow SQL to be passed to InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner.

Resolving the problem

Edit the settings of the firewall to unblock these two ports. Then, try again to send the SQL statements to InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner.
