Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem(Abstract)
When Memory Analyzer Web Edition 1.x is used with later versions of Firefox you cannot type characters into the query text entry fields. This document describes a workaround. Memory Analyzer Web Edition is available for IBM Support Assistant 5.
Symptom
No characters are displayed when you open a query input field and attempt to enter keystrokes.
Cause
Individual keystrokes are ignored by the text input widget.
Environment
The problem has been confirmed with Memory Analyzer Web Edition 1.x running with Firefox 16 and 17. It might also occur with other Firefox versions.
Resolving the problem
You can use copy and paste to work around the problem. For example, to search for a string in an object set, do the following.
- Open the Dominator Tree.
- Right-click on a class name and select "Java Basics -> Find String". A window opens with a text entry field to enter a regular expression for the "-pattern" argument.
- Type the regular expression in a separate text editor and then copy that text to your clipboard.
- Select the text entry field for "-pattern" and paste the contents of the clipboard.
- Click Finish to perform the query.
