Incomplete uninstall causing problem in reinstalling IBM Content Classification.

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

I had an incomplete unistall of IBM Content Classification 8.8 on Linux. Then when I tried to install the product again it told me the product is already installed and would not continue.

Symptom

The message below displays:

A previous version of IBM Content Classification is installed on this
computer.

Click Next to upgrade your current installation, including all project
data, knowledge bases, and decision plans, to version 8.7.

Resolving the problem

  • Back up the /var/.com.zerog.registry.xml file.
  • Then remove the file. Also remove the old Content Classification 8.8's install directory.
  • Try installation again.
The .com.zerog.registry.xml file is shared by other products. You may need to merge in the other products' information once the install is complete.
