Problem(Abstract)
Attempts to open a Work Product element with IBM Rational Method Composer (RMC) result in "Could not open the editor" error.
Symptom
RMC returns the following error.
Could not open the editor: org.eclipse.epf.uma.impl.ContentDescriptionImpl incompatible with org.eclipse.epf.uma.impl.WorkProductDescription
Cause
Data corruption in the RMC Workspace.
Resolving the problem
WORKAROUND
Rename the RMC Workspace.
NOTES
- Do not delete the workspace, but rename it.
- Make a backup for safety.
The RMC tool will recreate this workspace as soon as the tool opens the library again. If you saved the library in this workspace. make a backup of that library.
Steps to rename the Workspace
- Close RMC.
- Navigate to
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\IBM\RMC.
- Rename the workspace.752 folder to workspace.752.backup for RMC 7.5.2.
- Start RMC.
The tool should now load properly.
