Processing inbound EDIFACT data causes Commpost to hang and creates multiple temporary files

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Processing inbound EDIFACT data causes Commpost to hang and creates multiple temporary files.

Cause

When an EDIFACT document does not contain an UNA segment, but does not use the default delimiters, it causes commpost.exe to hang and create temp files.

Diagnosing the problem

Large amounts of temporary files are created, and the commpost.exe never finishes

Resolving the problem

A fix was created in Commpost, when a UNB segment is detected and the segment terminator defined in the Splitter table is not found in the data, to flag the interchange as bad, write an Audit message and continue processing the file.

The fix is included in version 5.3 Patch 4.
