RPT 8.2.1 scripts incorrectly report timeout exceptions

Question

In ITCAM for Transactions 7.3, after you upgraded to RPT 8.2.1.x, your RPT scripts incorrectly report timeout errors. Existing RPT 8.1.x scripts do not have this problem. Why?

Cause

This issue is identified as a product defect under APAR IV11856.

Answer

Rational Performance Tester (RPT) 8.2.1 introduced changes that require an update to the T6 agent in order to playback these scripts correctly. The latest V7.3 fixpack or cumulative interim fix includes these updates.

For example, ITCAM for Transactions 7.3 FP01 (7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-FP0001 ) includes APAR IV11856. However, ITCAM for Transactions 7.3 IF26 (7.3.0.1-TIV-CAMRT-IF0026) supersedes and replaces 7.3 FP01.

This means that you can install 7.3 IF26 on top of 7.3 FP01. But, there is no need to install 7.3 FP01 if you install 7.3 IF26, because the interim fix is cumulative.

Also install the Rational Integration Support on the RPT host from the latest available interim fix or fixpack that includes this package. Rational Integration Support is provided in its own directory in the installation image.
