Abstract

Known problems uploading to the WMC with HTTPS in Windows 7

Content

In the WebSphere Cast Iron Web Management Console (WMC) you can upload files, such as project .par files, to an appliance.

Some users have reported errors when using Internet Explorer on Windows 7. An error is reported that indicates an empty or zero length file has been transferred even though the file you have attempted to send is valid and has content. An error such as "empty project file" is observed.

To work around this issue, you will need to take one of the following actions in order to upload the file:

  • In Internet Explorer, disable TLS 1.0 and allow it to fallback to using SSL 3.0.
    To do this, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab, then under Security uncheck "Use TLS 1.0", and ensure "Use SSL 3.0" is selected
    or;
  • Use Google Chrome to upload the file
If neither of these workarounds are successful then please contact IBM Cast Iron support who will assist.
