Manually removing the TAM ESSO IMS Server (8.0.x)

Technote (FAQ)


The IMS Server uninstaller fails or hang when run, never completing. How can the IMS Server be removed manually.


This can happen after an upgrade to 8.1 or 8.2 where the configuration has changed and the older IMS Server can not be run due to the changes


The following commands can be run in a command window (with Administrator privileges)


REG DELETE "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IMSService" /va /f
REG DELETE "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment" /v IMS_INSTALL_HOME /f

RMDIR /S "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\TAM E-SSO IMS Server"

RMDIR /S "<IMS Install Path>"

<IMS Install Path>: eg
8.0.0: C:\Encentuate\IMSServer8.0.0.12
8.0.1: C:\Encentuate\IMSServer8.

For the RMDIR command you will be prompted to confirm the deletion, if you do not want this prompt then you can add the flag /Q after the /S.

The following command can also be tried in the command window, but it has been seen that this does not necessarily work, though the command reports success, therefore to ensure this part is removed from the registry, it is advised to use regedit to do this:

REG DELETE "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun 2.0\IMSService" /va /f

After doing the above commands, restart the system to commit the registry changes.

This will then have removed the TAM ESSO IMS Server Installation from this system.
