Prospect Ericsson EVDO identical PEG names in different EVDO Templates.

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Is it valid to have identical PEG names but in different EMS Templates? If so, how does Prospect handle this?

Cause

Below is an example of two different Template names with the same PEGS. In this case since the DOM IP ( NodeName ) is different, the Primary key will be different for each Template.

NodeName=DOM_10.11.25.1
NodeAliasName=C_J/MC800BTS1644/12
ClusterId=J_Cluster
Category=RnSectorPerf2_R9.0
ConfName=RnSectorPerf2
OIDs(Variables):
Var-1 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.26(achSectorThroughputMac)
Var-2 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.27(achSectorThroughputPhy)
Var-3 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.17(cchSectorNumDroppedMessages)
Var-4 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.15(cchSectorNumLocalMessages)
Var-5 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.8(cchSectorNumRxAcAckRequests)
Var-6 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.7(cchSectorNumRxMessages)

NodeName=DOM_10.11.25.2
NodeAliasName=C_J/MC800BTS1645/12
ClusterId=J_Cluster
Category=RnsectorPerf21_R9.0
ConfName=RnsectorPerf21
OIDs(Variables):
Var-1 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.26(achSectorThroughputMac)
Var-2 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.27(achSectorThroughputPhy)
Var-3 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.17(cchSectorNumDroppedMessages)
Var-4 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.15(cchSectorNumLocalMessages)
Var-5 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.8(cchSectorNumRxAcAckRequests)
Var-6 = 1.3.6.1.4.1.6587.4.63.2.1.1.1.7(cchSectorNumRxMessages)

Answer

Yes. Prospect has a primary key for the Oracle tables, which is based on the entity/DOM IP/Sector and PN offset. That forces 1 PEG per row. So if two templates have the same PEG name, Prospect will peg those values to different tables, and hence it's ok to have the same PEG for different Templates.
