The Identity Insight pipeline start fails with: CRIT: Exception: [SERVERMESSAGE] ORA-28002: the password will expire within # days

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why is the Identity Insight pipeline failing to start with error message:
CRIT: Exception: [SERVERMESSAGE] ORA-28002: the password will expire within #* days. CRITICAL ERROR, even though the Oracle password still works?

* # days represents a number of days until the password expires, for example 3.

Cause

This has been identified as a product defect under APAR PJ40795 in 8.0 Fix packs up to and including Hot Fix 5 (V 8.0.0.140):

PIPELINE FAILS ON ORACLE WITH PASSWORD EXPIRATION NOTICE BEFORE PASSWORD ACTUALLY EXPIRES

Answer

This APAR will be addressed in a future 8.0 Fix pack release. Please check the specific APAR information for the Fix pack release.

In the meantime, users can use the workaround of changing the Oracle password so it will not expire soon, causing the pipeline problem.
