ITM 6.23 FP2 CommonEventConsole configuration fails on Windows

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

After applying ITM 6.23 FP2, any new configuration settings of the CommonEventConsole are not updated after configuring TEPS on Windows.

Content

While reconfiguring the TEPS, you can add new connections for the CommonEventConsole (CEC) e.g. add a connection to a Netcool Omnibus. The CEC configuration is stored on the TEPS in C:\IBM\ITM\CNPS\<hostname>_fw.cfg.

After applying ITM 6.23 FP2 on Windows TEPS, the CEC configuration menu will not show the old settings for existing connections which were added before FP2 was installed, but are still present in the TEP CommonEventConsole. After installing FP2, new CEC connections can be added but will not be saved in C:\IBM\ITM\CNPS\<hostname>_fw.cfg.

This problem was identified as a bug and addressed in APAR IV32785. It occurs on Windows systems but not on UNIX/LINUX systems. .

LOCAL FIX:
Workaround:

(1) backup file CANDLEHOME\CNPS\fw_dd_620000000.xml
(2) edit file CANDLEHOME\CNPS\fw_dd_620000000.xml, add

<version>1.0</version>
<!-- <event_listening>fake</event_listening> -->

after the line
<productName msKey=.... >

(3) Save the file and reconfig TEPS

You can also use the fw_dd_620000000.xml from this technote.

The APAR IV32785 is included and solved with 6.2.3-TIV-ITM-FP0003.
