Abstract
Customers running IBM Rational Requirements Composer version 4.0 and 4.0.0.1 are advised to contact IBM Support to obtain a patch to prevent a potential out of memory error that prevents access to project data.

Users might encounter a problem where they no longer have access to view/update artifacts in Requirements Composer until the system is restarted due to a known defect. The defect have been resolved in the 4.0.1 release, and a patch is available for the 4.0 and 4.0.0.1 releases which can be obtained by contacting IBM Rational Support.
Symptoms
1) A JVM heap dump shows the heap consumed by com.ibm.fronting.server.common.folder.Folder objects. See screenshot for details:
