Resolving the problem

This issue has been resolved for SPSS Statistics 21.0 and beyond.

For Statistics versions 19 or 20, please try one of the work a rounds listed below (note you only have to do one):

Work around 1) Update iconv [iconv is a computer program and a standardized application programming interface (API) used to convert between different character encodings.]

Work around 2) Edit loclmap.xml in the SPSS Statistics Server installation path (e.g. /opt/IBM/SPSS/StatisticsServer19/bin/loclmap.xml) to use the en_US.ISO-8859-15 locale instead of the en_US.ISO-8859-1 locale.

Work around 3) From the client side before connecting to the Statistics Server on zLinux run the following syntax: SET locale="en_US.ISO-8859-15".
