Installing ClearCase interactively on Unix using Installation Manager Console Mode - by Example

The following shows an example of an interactive installation of ClearCase 8.0.0.2 on Oracle Solaris 10 Sparc using "imcl -c" Installation Manager Console Mode.

I - Installation Manager - Installation

1) Download IM 1.6 from http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27025142


2) Extract IM and install it

For this example IM is extracted into the /medias-ibm/im-160 directory:

# cd /medias-ibm/im-160

# ./install -acceptLicense --launcher.ini silent-install.ini

Installed com.ibm.cic.agent_1.6.0.20120831_1216 to the /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse directory.

1) For this example the media is available at the following locations:

2) Running the IM Console Command

Enter the TCP/IP port and host name of one or more single license servers, separating the server names with a semicolon. If you are entering redundant license servers, specify three servers separating server names with a comma. If you would like to use the server's default port number, you may omit the port number when specifying a license server.

 

If you do not know this information, you can configure the license server after the installation completes by running the IBM Rational License Key Administrator.

3.2) Verifying the features installed

4) After the installation run "cleartool hostinfo -l " in order to verify that the License is correct as well. There have been cases where the flexlm_host file is not created (if you choose FLEXLM licenses) in which case you can then follow the steps below:

4.1) Create the flexlm_host file

vi /var/adm/rational/clearcase/config/flexlm_host

4.2) Add the following lines to the above file:

SERVER 27000@9.x.131.34 ANY

USE_SERVER

(note replace 27000@9.x.131.34 to fit your specific environment)

Then save the file and restart ClearCase
