While migration to WebSphere eXtreme Scale Version 8.6 is still in progress, the states reported by the showReplicationState command and the showDomainReplicationState command do not report statistics on the previous WebSphere eXtreme Scale version.

Troubleshooting

Problem

While migration to WebSphere eXtreme Scale Version 8.6 is still in progress, the new xscmd commands showReplicationState and showDomainReplicationState do not report the correct statistics for the entire WebSphere eXtreme Scale domain and generates exceptions.

Symptom

The new xscmd commands, showReplicationState and showDomainReplicationState, do not report statistics while migration is still progress to WebSphere eXtreme Scale Version 8.6.

For example, if you issue xscmd.bat |sh -c showReplicationState, the command does not return any containers.

Command showReplicationState is a technology preview.
The command usage and output is subject to change.
Container Outstanding Inbound Revisions Outstanding Outbound Revisions
CWXSI0040I: The showReplicationState command completed successfully.

Cause

Upgrade is taking place during active replication and you are running a mixed environment of Version 8.5 and Version 8.6 eXtreme Scale container servers.

Diagnosing The Problem

Verify the versions of your WebSphere eXtreme Scale catalog servers and container servers. Look for servers at versions previous to WebSphere eXtreme Scale Version 8.6. To verify the version, use one of the following methods to determine the version:

  • Issue the xscmd.bat|sh -c showInfo command and review the version entry.
  • Search for the CWOBJ0903I message key to review the version. The server's SystemOut.log or JVM logs will also report the current version.
  • If you are running WebSphere eXtreme Scale  within WebSphere Application Server, issue the WebSphere Application Server versionInfo.bat|sh command to report the WebSphere eXtreme Scale version.

Exceptions will occur in the First Failure Date Capture (FFDC) files. These FFDC exceptions include java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.ibm.ws.xs.stats.collector.ReplicationStatesAgent or
com.ibm.websphere.objectgrid.ObjectGridRuntimeException: Map agent cannot retrieve result for partition.

Resolving The Problem

Complete the migration to WebSphere eXtreme Scale Version 8.6.
