Can we restore the EBR backup from FileNet Image Services (IS) 4.1.1 in FileNet IS 4.2.0 to complete the data migration?

Technote (FAQ)

Question

We need to upgrade FileNet IS from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0 and there is already a new FileNet IS 4.2.0 installed on the new server. In order to migrate the content, can we restore the EBR backup from FileNet Image Services (IS) 4.1.1 in FileNet IS 4.2.0?

Answer

In general, this is feasible. After restoring FileNet IS 4.1.1 EBR backup in FileNet IS 4.2.0, you need to create a zero byte file call "fnsw_update" in /fnsw/local/tmp/. After this, when FileNet IS is restarted, fn_migrate will be automatically run in order to do the migration. In addition, we suggest the "checkpoint.osa" and "snt.chkpt" should be deleted under /fnsw/local/sd. This two files will be re-created when IS is restarted.
