Question
Reading through the 'SNA_InstallGuide.pdf' section 'Administration tool'. You must configure your environment to enable communication between them. What does this mean exactly? It seems that I must enable Social Network Analysis for IBM SPSS Modeler Server and Social Network Analysis for IBM SPSS Modeler cluster nodes. What if I'm not using clusters?
Answer
Social Network Analysis for IBM® SPSS® Modeler consists of the following three primary components:
1) Social Network Analysis for IBM SPSS Modeler nodes within the IBM® SPSS® Modeler environment.
2) Social Network Analysis for IBM® SPSS® Modeler Server, which adds processing of the node specifications to IBM® SPSS® Modeler Server.
3) Optional Social Network Analysis for IBM SPSS Modeler cluster nodes to distribute the social network processing over multiple machines.
The key here is the 3rd item is optional.
You must configure your environment to enable communication between "Social Network Analysis for IBM® SPSS® Modeler Server" and "Social Network Analysis for IBM SPSS Modeler nodes within the IBM® SPSS® Modeler non-clustered environment or (optional #3 above) clustered nodes environment".
Refer to section 'Setting up your environment' item 4 that also states:
"Use the administration tool to configure your server and cluster environment. For more
information, see the topic Administration tool in Chapter 5 on p. 12.".
The reference to cluster environment can also be non-clustered environment as this is referring
to how SNA is configured across systems.
