SAP Connector hosts must use a FQDN to support the viewing of service desk incidents from Rational Team Concert

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why are links to service desk incidents created by the IBM Rational Connector for SAP Solution Manager not returned through browser clients?

Cause

The hostname for the computer that hosts the SAP connector is not using a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). This results in the links between service desk incidents and RTC work items not working. For example, if the link begins with <protocol>://<hostname>... and there is no DNS setting to append the appropriate domain name, the link results in a 404 or Not Found error message.

Answer

Set a fully qualified domain name for the computer that hosts the SAP Connector so that you can view links from work items to service desk incidents.

For example, for Redhat, change the HOSTNAME section of /etc/sysconfig/network to have the fully qualified domain name.  With this setting in place the link would now be <protocol>://<hostname.domain>/... and the computer that hosts the SAP connector would be able to resolve the link.

Consult your operating system documentation to determine how to set the hostname for each operating system.
