Resolving the problem

verify that no extra characters (\n, etc) are contained into pwd file.

To verify extra characters please following this steps:

UNIX:

assume your password in $InTheBank$ in the file pwd.txt

$ od -c pwd.txt
0000000 $ I n T h e B a n k $ \n

you can see the extra char "\n"

You can delete the extra "\n" in this way

$ cat pwd.txt | tr -d "\n" > pwd_no_eol.txt

$ od -c pwd_no_eol.txt

0000000 $ I n T h e B a n k $

WINDOWS:

in Windows you need to use an editor that show you the line feed. In many case notepad is good.
