Group chat invitation pop-up cannot be suppressed and focus remains until user joins/decline the group chat invitation.


Technote (troubleshooting)


Problem

Users disabled Sametime preference: "Bring new invitation to front".

Users enabled Sametime preference: "Flash the taskbar to indicate new invitation".

On presentation of a group chat invitation, users were prevented from doing any Lotus Notes actions until they accepted or declined the group chat invitation.

Users requested usability of the Lotus Notes application not be restricted in this manner.


Symptom

Focus remains with the invitation flash on the task bar of the recipient/group chat invitee - until the user accepts or declines the group chat invitation.

Until the user accepts/declines the group chat invitation, they are prevented from performing any Lotus Notes actions.

Cause

This Software defect addressed by Lotus Notes Embedded Sametime client Fix # SJWG-8ZFCWS.

Environment

Lotus Notes, embedded Sametime version: 8.5.2.20111107-1518.

Windows 7 32-bit Operating System.
Originally Lotus Notes client 8.5.2FP3 with embedded Sametime 8.5.1FP1.
Upgraded to Notes client 8.5.3FP1 with embedded Sametime 8.5.2IFR1.


Diagnosing the problem

IBM Support reproduced the problem and created Sametime SPR ID #DJOE8Y3KVA to track the software defect.


Resolving the problem

The problem was resolved after installing IBM Fix # SJWG-8ZFCWS
