Index availability for OmniFind Enterprise Edition Search Application when installed on a WebSphere Application Server Cluster

Technote (FAQ)

Question

When the OmniFind Enterprise Edition Search application is installed on a WebSphere Application Server cluster does it have to have access to a single index on the ICA master and does it make this a single point of failure?

Answer

When OmniFind Enterprise Edition Search application is installed to a cluster, the cluster has multiple search servers each having its own copy of the index. So the search nodes do not all access the index on the master node.

This means that the failure of the master node does not make it a single point of failure when it comes to search. The search application and search servers will still be available and up and running even though a failure occurs on the master node.
