Backups were working and no changes have been made to the Tivoli Storage Manager Client configuration, but backups have suddenly started to fail with ANS4013E errors.
Pathing problem, which is external to Tivoli Storage Manager Client, between the NAS CIFS device and the affected system.
Diagnosing the problem
dsmerror.log will contain the following errors:
MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS ANS1228E Sending of object '\\UNC_NAME\SHARE_NAME' failed
MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS ANS4013E Error processing '\\UNC_NAME\SHARE_NAME': invalid file handle
Resolving the problem
Power cycle the NAS and the Windows system to try to clear the condition. If the condition persists, contact networking staff and NAS vendor support to review their respective logs to determine why the 'invalid file handle' error is being passed to the Tivoli Storage Manager Client.
