Return Partial Service Receipt

Question

Is there a reason that the quantity received is incorrect after returning a service receipt?

Cause

Steps to replicate return of service issue in Maximo 6.2 and 7.1:

  1. Go to the Purchase Orders application.
  2. Create a new po 1107.
  3. Add company = ATI.
  4. Go to the PO lines tab.
  5. Create a new po line and change the line type to "standard service".
    Select "Snow Removal" from using the "select value" icon next to the item field.
    Inspection required check-box is checked.
    Quantity = 5000
    No tax.
    Enter a GL Debit account.
    Approve the PO.



6. Go to the Receiving application.
7. Click on the "Select Ordered Services" button.
8. Select the standard service item.
9. Enter 99.64 in the quantity field.




10. From the "Select Action" menu, change inspection status.
11. Go to the "Service Receipts" tab.
12. Select the service receipt line:
    Inspection status has been changed to COMP
    Receipt status has been changed to PARTIAL.



13. Click on the "Select Ordered Services" button:
    Enter -99.64 in the quantity.
    Change the type to RETURN.
    Save the record.


14. Hyper-link to the PO application and go to PO Lines tab"
    Quantity received displays 99.64
    Received unit cost = 1
    Received line cost = 99.64
    But quantity received should display zero after doing a return of 99.64.

Answer

There is new functionality in Maximo 7.5 to handle returns of partial services easily.


1. Click on the "Select Services for Return" button in the Receiving application.



2. Specify the receipt line that needs to be returned to the vendor:



3. After returning the service, the issue type will now display as RETURN on the receipt line.
Save the record.



4. Receipt status has been changed to NONE.

5. Hyper-link to the original PO, go to the PO lines tab.
Expand the PO line for the returned service.

The "Receipts Complete" flag is unchecked.
The "Quantity Received" displays zero as the item has been returned:



It is no longer necessary to enter a negative quantity and change the type to return.
