Print Report wizard not creating PDF files with Xcelerator Perspectives 10.1.0

Technote (troubleshooting)


Ability to save as PDF (via Print Report Wizard) requires PDFCamp driver installed.
It has been removed from Xcelerator client install in Cognos Express 10.1.


PDFCamp printer driver not installed



Diagnosing the problem

In  cx_install_baseline file , we can see error message : Cannot run program <Cognos Express Client Installation Path>\Xcelerator Client/bin/PDFCamp/setup.exe": CreateProcess
error=3, The system cannot find the path specified.

Resolving the problem

The solution to install PDFCamp printer driver on a client machine is:

1. Copy the PDFCamp folder from the Cognos Express installation folder (e.g. Program Files (x86)\IBM\Cognos Express\bin\PDFCamp) to the local machine.

2. Copy the four batch files attached (install_uninstall_PDF_script.7z) into the local PDFCamp folder you just copied over.

3. Run uninstallPDF(x64).bat to make sure the previous PDFCamp printer drive is completely removed if any.

4. Run installPDF(x64).bat to get it installed.

Note: Based on the OS in the machine, run the batch file (x64) accordingly.
