Problem(Abstract)
Attempts to apply S&S Renewal to an IBM Rational Software Architect license results in FLEXnet Licensing error:-42,298.
Symptom
Steps to reproduce:
- Log into the IBM Rational License Key Center
- Select Rational Software Architect as the product
- Generate a Rational Software Architect Authorized User license
- Apply the S&S renewal to the Rational Software Authorized User license
Expected result: License key is successfully generated
Actual result: License key generation fails with the following error:

Cause
The License Key Center requires the disk serial number of a Windows Host ID to be 12 characters in length.
Resolving the problem
Generate the license key using a 12 character disk serial number.
