DISPLAY variable not set when running TDPVMwareMountRestore.sh

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why is the TDPVMwareMountRestore.sh script not executing properly?

Cause

When running the Tivoli Data Protection for VMWare script, the following error is received:

[root@tsm-restore mount]# ./TDPVMwareMountRestore.sh
The DISPLAY variable is not set, therefore the FastBack Mount cannot open.

Answer

The script runs FastBack mount, which requires a graphical interface. The environment variable DISPLAY must be set on the operating system to indicate there is a graphical user interface for use of the FastBack Mount.
