Problem(Abstract)

IBM Security AppScan Enterprise or IBM Rational Policy Tester jobs suspends with "Unknown error: Failed to change the Activity state to eASPostProcessing"

Symptom


All scans (jobs) or only large scans suspends with message:

Suspended (Unknown error: Failed to change the Activity state to eASPostProcessing)



The ItemLog shows the following error messages:

"Exception: Failed to change the Activity state to eASPostProcessing" "ScanDirector" ""                
"Method source: AgentHost" "ScanDirector" ""                
"Method source: AgentHost" "Stack Trace: " ""                
" at Watchfire.AgentHost.ServerScanDirector.UpdateActivityStateAction(ActivityState activityState, ActivityAction activityAction, Object exceptionData)" "ScanDirector" ""



Earlier to the error message, the Itemlog may have the following entries:

Cause

There is not enough disk space on the machine running the SQL database server.

Diagnosing the problem

The disk space usage is proportional to the following attributes:

  • number of jobs
  • size of the jobs
  • number of jobs running at the same time

Resolving the problem

Make sure you have plenty of disk space on the machine running the SQL database server. You may do one of the following:

  • Add disk space
  • Delete old jobs (after deleting jobs you will need to "shrink" the database in order to reclaim the space)
