Cannot add Store actions to the Run Command test step

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

In Rational Integration Tester (RIT) of IBM Rational Test Workbench, you cannot add Store actions to the Run Command test action.

Symptom

When you add Store actions to the Run Command test action, it appears that you configured them, but RIT does not save them on exit.

When you re-open the Run Command action, none of the Store actions are present.

Cause

This issue has been identified as a product defect and logged under APAR PM76298.

Resolving the problem

SOLUTION

This issue has been fixed in Rational Integration Tester version 8.0.1.1.

WORKAROUND

For previous versions of RIT, the workaround is to add an Assert action to the field that you wish to store in a tag. In this example the stdout field is to be tagged.

  1. Double-click on the Run Command test action to open it for editing.

  2. Click on the Assert tab.

  3. Enter a value into the Standard Output text box.
Do not click the Standard Output check-box to enable the Assert action unless you do need this validation.

  4. Click the Store tab.

  5. Add your Store actions to the stdout field.
Ensure that you click the tag T check-box to enable the action.

  6. Click OK to save.

When you re-open the Run Command test step, you will see that RIT saved the Store action.
