Zone control session prematurely terminated for a Brocade fabric

Technote (troubleshooting)


Unable to make zoning changes to a Brocade fabric using Tivoli Storage Productivity Center due to a Network Advisor defect with the SMI agent.


Attempts to make zoning changes through Tivoli Storage Productivity Center using the zone control GUI, SAN Planner, workflows for Tivoli Provisioning Manager or any other interface, may fail for Brocade fabrics managed by the Network Advisor 11.x SMI agent. The zone control session is prematurely terminated for the Brocade fabric and zoning changes are not applied.


A duplicate notice is sent during zone data collection that causes the Brocade SMI agent to terminate the session created by the user through Tivoli Storage Productivity Center zone control. This is a defect with the Network Advisor software that can cause failures with Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

Diagnosing the problem

Brocade Network Advisor SMI-S Agent logs
The SMIS Agent logs also show that the transaction was terminated because of a conflicting zone control session:

Resolving the problem

There is no workaround for this problem. Network Advisor 12.x resolves this issue.
